OYA Solar, a North American turnkey solar developer, announced multiple additions to its executive leadership team to continue the development of its renewable energy portfolio. First, the company has hired Scott Lechky as the company’s Chief Financial Officer, who brings nearly fifteen years of financial experience in both the power and renewable industries. Lechky will be responsible for the management of OYA’s financial planning and analysis, management of financial risk, financial reporting, and capital raising activities. The solar developer has also hired Robert Schwartz as the Head of Commercial, U.S., who will lead the firm’s growth into power marketing of green energy from its community solar, distributed generation and utility-scale solar PV plants in various markets.

“Scott brings tremendous industry and financial experience to OYA’s leadership team,” said Manish Nayar, Founder and CEO of OYA Solar. “His extensive project finance and transaction experience in the renewables, power generation, regulated utility, and infrastructure sectors will make him a key asset in our efforts “to double our greenfield and M&A pipeline in the next three years.”

Prior to joining OYA Solar, Lechky served as a Director at Antarctica Capital, where he led the origination and execution of private equity investments in the North American power and energy infrastructure sectors. He previously held leadership roles at both Credit Suisse and Bank of America Merrill Lynch, where he executed mergers and acquisitions and debt and equity capital markets transactions on behalf of large corporate and financial sponsor clients. Lechky is a CFA charterholder and possesses an MBA from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management, and a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Alberta.

In addition to Lechky, OYA Solar has hired Robert Schwartz as the Head of Commercial, U.S. Schwartz joins OYA from NRG Energy, where he served as Director, Business Development, leading NRG’s solar distributed generation team within their renewables division  Throughout his career in the solar industry, Robert has developed and sold over $100MM in distributed generation solar assets. Robert holds an MBA from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management, and a BA of Foreign Affairs and Economics from the University of Virginia. At OYA, Robert will be responsible for building its power marketing business to provide clients with a suite of on-site and virtual energy products that provide immediate energy savings at no cost to the client.

The hires boost OYA’s growing New York office located at Grand Central Tech’s Urban Tech Hub. With a portfolio of 400 MWDC of distributed generation, utility-scale, and low and middle income (“LMI”) projects in the state, OYA is excited to have the opportunity to partner with local and state officials to bring investment, jobs, and affordable, clean energy to the residents of New York.
